Signature Program Overview

Kappa Theta Epsilon proudly displays our commitment to service through the Sorority’s signature programs.

Designed to assist communities in the areas of Leadership Development, Holistic Health and Wellness, Educational Advancement, Economic Empowerment, and Social Impact and Policy Awareness, Kappa Theta Epsilon programs are designed to address pressing issues in a practical, actionable manner.

The Sorority’s first signature program, one still active today, was the Plum Goes Green Initiative.

In recognition of the global concern for the environment, and the need to eliminate waste to improve environmental conditions, Kappa adopted a plan to minimize the organization’s carbon footprint.

Today, Kappa Theta Epsilon operates as a 90+% paperless organization.

Members are encouraged to implement green living efforts in their own lives by recycling, carbon off-setting, and implementing or advocating for eco-friendly systems in their businesses or places of employment.

Student Support (STEMS) Program

As a part of the Sorority’s Educational Advancement target, Kappa Theta Epsilon has developed the STEMS [Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Student Support] Initiative.

Designed to present youth of all backgrounds the opportunity to explore advanced study and STEM careers, the program will be implemented in a partner school in every area where the Sorority is represented.

The For Eudy Project

The For Eudy Project is a corrective rape awareness campaign named in honor of Eudy Simelane. Eudy was a lesbian South African football star who was attacked and murdered during a corrective rape in 2008.

Hers was the most high-profile case of its kind in the country’s history, with two of her attackers being convicted and sentenced to prison terms exceeding 30 years.

This issue isn’t going away. According to Luleki Sizwe, a South African grassroots organization combating corrective rape, more than 10 women are raped or gang-raped weekly.

One of the biggest issues in the fight to stop these assaults is under-reporting.

Kappa hopes to help raise awareness and funds to assist organizations combating corrective rape and other violence against lesbian women in providing resources, information, and safe haven to lesbian women looking for help.
