What is the name of your organization?
The name of our organization is Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority. The Greek letter spelling of the name is KΘE.
When and where were you founded?
Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority was founded February 24th, 2009 in Houston, TX. The idea for the Sorority was conceived by our Founder several years before, and came to fruition on that date.
What is the purpose of your Sorority?
The main purpose of Kappa Theta Epsilon is to offer lesbian women a network that encourages sisterhood, fosters growth, and maintains an active organizational presence in the community by advocating for LGBT and women’s issues.
Where are your members located?
Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority currently has members in Georgia. We are planning expansion efforts for later this year.
Do I have to be in Georgia to become a member?
No. Beginning this year, membership in Kappa Theta Epsilon will be open to qualified groups of women outside the Sorority’s primary area of operation.
I’ve seen info about your Sorority that says you are for businesswomen. I don’t own a business. Can I still join?
Absolutely! Kappa Theta Epsilon believes that professional women contribute to our community in a variety of arenas. Membership is open to all feminine lesbian women. Whether you’re an Airman with a dream, a homemaker with a degree in economics, or a bestselling, self-published author, Kappa Theta Epsilon has a place for you.
How can I become a member?
Membership in Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority is by invitation only. Ladies who would like to be invited to join can submit a Statement of Interest to be considered for an upcoming invitational. Fill out the Interest Introduction Form here.
Can I join if I am bisexual or label-free?
Though Kappa Theta Epsilon is a lesbian-interest Sorority, we welcome the participation of women committed to our goals and programs. We offer a variety of ways for women who are not lesbian to become involved in our efforts, including associate membership.
I’m a member of another Sorority. Am I eligible to join Kappa Theta Epsilon?
Depending on the organization in which you currently hold membership, you may be eligible for membership in Kappa Theta Epsilon. If you’re part of a collegiate honor society, music sorority or other professional, academic or service organization, you are eligible to pursue membership.
Women initiated into National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) or National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations are also eligible.
Those initiated and currently affiliated with an LGBT Greek-lettered organization are precluded from membership. Special consideration may be given to ladies who are former members of defunct organizations.
What are the costs of Membership Intake for Kappa Theta Epsilon?
The details of the Sorority’s Membership Intake Process are reserved for formally invited Aspirants. Upon receipt of an invitation to Membership, Prospectives receive information on the investment required and all other related particulars.
Do you have a “sister fraternity?”
No. Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority is an independent organization. Though we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with others, we are not constitutionally affiliated with any other Greek Letter organization.
What is Kappa Theta Epsilon’s stance on hazing?
KΘE is committed to the creation of positive associations between members. It is our belief that hazing does not create great Sisters. Every member of the Sorority commits to a Code of Conduct upon initiation that highlights our dedication to a positive sisterhood experience. Therefore, Kappa Theta Epsilon has a strict, zero tolerance policy for hazing. You can view the Sorority’s statement on hazing here.
We are a local. Can we affiliate with Kappa Theta Epsilon?
Local LGBT organizations have the opportunity to be considered for affiliation with KΘE through the Sorority’s extension program. The first step is to contact the Sorority’s Leadership Team to schedule a consultation.
